Public Summary Month 7/2012
The experiment has completed task 1 (requirements collection & sensor miniaturization and tuning specification). User requirements and specification of the experiment practical set-up (draft status) and of functional and hardware specifications (final status) for the VSS sensor are available.
Physical realization of the VSS sensor has started (digital part), while the analogue part (piggy-back PCB) will start ASAP.
Integration of the mouse sensor for basic position sensing on the MAV has been performed and tested. Results show that the mouse sensor is clearly not enough accurate and precise for practical use.

The experiment is fully into task 1 (requirements collection & sensor miniaturization and tuning specification). Working versions (drafts) of user requirements and specification of the experiment practical set-up and of functional and hardware specifications for the VSS sensor have been produced and are in the review phase. Final versions are scheduled in short time; of the latter within a week, so that the physical realization of the VSS sensor may start as soon as possible. On the MAV side, work is on going for the integration of the mouse sensor for basic position sensing.

Current activities are focussed on the preparation of the selected MAV (Skybotix FlyboXTM) for the REMAV experiment. A new instance of the VSS optical-flow based speed and position sensor suited for REMAV is in the specification phase and is planned to be available this summer. FlyboXTM is being complemented with a (reference) position sensor based on a modified commercial mouse sensor. The requirements and specifications for the experiment practical setup are in definition.
